DIVISION 1 DIRECTOR - HUGUETTE LUTZ
I began my career in urban municipal administration in Ponteix, Saskatchewan, in 1982, where I worked as clerk for the town, while taking my LGA courses. From there, I went to Leader, where I served as Administrator from 1984 to 1986. From 1986 to 1990, I was Administrator for the town of Assiniboia. In 1990, I left the field to follow my husband, Kelly, to Wawota, where he started his own business, and to raise our two children. In 1992, I decided to get back into the working world when I was fortunate to obtain the position of Secretary Treasurer of the Arcola School Division. In 1994, I also took on the Oxbow School Division, and then we proceeded to amalgamate into the Souris Moose Mountain School Division. I left that job in 1996, having totally run out of steam, and seeing more amalgamations on the horizon! In 1997, after a year’s rest (sort of), I went to work for the Moose Mountain Health Region. In 2002, amalgamation reared its head once more, and I left the health district to go to North Battleford to work for the North Battleford Catholic School Division until 2007. In 2007, I moved back to the south, when I obtained employment as Administrator for the Town of Carlyle. My husband stayed in North Battleford until our son, Aaron, graduated from high school, then he joined me in Carlyle in 2008. He works in the auto parts business here. We have recently purchased a house in Carlyle and are busy renovating. Our son now lives with us and works in the oilfield maintenance industry in the Carlyle area. Our daughter, Heather, lives in Shilo, Manitoba, and is employed for Hakim Optical in Brandon.

DIVISION 2 DIRECTOR - GORD MURRAY
Born and raised in Regina, I managed to survive and actually enjoy my misspent youth of the 60’s and 70’s earning a degree in Urban/Human Geography in 1975. Realizing that some things are best left unsaid – I followed my degree by working for a major brewing company for 27 years taking various positions within the trade union side of the industrial workplace in areas of stewardship and collective bargaining at the local, provincial and national levels. Witnessing major corporate consolidation and technology shifts of the 1990’s – I was seconded from my workplace to be regional coordinator for Western Canada in a Union/Employer/HRDSC sponsored Layoff and Closure program – developing and delivering a training program for both workers and employers in the food processing/manufacturing industries to manage the adjustment - providing transitional skills and tools necessary where a major layoff or closure was anticipated or about to occur. This gave me the opportunity to travel all across this great county and made me realize how much I appreciate our province and its people.

Not immune to this change, my employer closed its doors in 2001/02 at which time I completed the LGA program and took the position as Administrator for the Town of Gravelbourg in 2003 which we proudly call home today.

Married to my wonderful spouse Joanne in 1982, we have 2 sons attending the UofR each making every effort to drive us to bankruptcy.

DIVISION 3 DIRECTOR - JASON CHORNEYKO
I was born and raised in the Town of Wynyard. I graduated from the Wynyard Composite High School in 1982 and from the University of Saskatchewan (Public Administration) in 1989. I have also completed the first four levels of the Certified General Accountant program.

As with many people from Wynyard, I worked at the local poultry processing plant on and off during high school and beyond. I began my office career in November 1997 when I became the accountant at Lakeside Processors Ltd., a special crops processing and shipping facility. It was during this employment that I took an interest in municipal governance. I was elected as Councillor for the Town of Wynyard during the 2003 municipal election.

In the spring of 2004, Wynyard’s long-serving Administrator retired. With opportunity in small town Saskatchewan being what it is, I decided to end my foray into municipal governance after a whopping six months, resigned from Council, and applied for the Wynyard position. I began my Administrator career on July 5, 2004. I worked under a “Conditional” certificate until October, 2005 when I was issued a “Standard” certificate.

Along with all the extra duties that come with most Administrator positions, I am also active with the Wynyard Kinsmen, sit on the board of the Wynyard Community Clinic, and am Secretary-Treasurer of the Wynyard & District Fire Association. I play plenty of golf in the summer and play recreation hockey in the winter. I was elected as Director of Division 3 in 2007. I look forward to serving my fellow Administrators.

Elected Director for Division 3 - June 2007.

DIVISION 4 DIRECTOR - AILEEN GARRETT
I was born and raised in Dinsmore, Saskatchewan. My career in Local Government began with the Village of Milden in 1997. I obtained my Urban Standard Certificate in September of 1999. In 2000, I moved to Oxbow where I assumed the Administrator position for five years. Currently I am the Administrator for the Town of Unity. I am married to Randy and have four daughters, Jacky, Christa, Courtney and Jaime. On October 15, 2010 we were blessed with a beautiful addition to our family, granddaughter Madison Leigh.

DIVISION 5 DIRECTOR - BRAD HVIDSTON
While in my final year of studies at the University of Saskatchewan I also completed the LGA course through correspondence. In 2000 I accepted my first position as the Administrator for the joint office of the Village of Dodsland and R.M. of Winslow. In 2001 I moved to Spiritwood and was the Town Administrator there until 2008. At that time I moved back to my home town of Tisdale to become the Town Administrator where I remain today. Shawna and I have 3 boys Drayton (8), Connor (7) and Lucas (5). All 3 of them play hockey, ball, soccer and many other activities. Most of my “spare time” has shifted from playing sports and being active on local committees to coaching hockey, being on the executive for minor sports associations and other children orientated activities.

DIVISION 6 DIRECTOR - NICOLE LERAT
Nicole was born and raised on the family farm in the Spiritwood area. She obtained her Rural Class “C” certificate while working as the assistant administrator for the RM of Spiritwood No. 496. After 8 years in Spiritwood, Nicole accepted the position of administrator for the RM of Big River No.555, where she obtained her Rural Class “A” certificate. In 2000, Nicole accepted the administrator position with the Town of Rosthern, where she still remains.

Nicole and her spouse, Chuck, live in Rosthern. Together, they have 4 children. Nicole and her family are involved with various community groups and committees. Snowmobiling, golfing, fishing and watching their children’s sporting events are her favorite past times.

DIVISION 7 DIRECTOR - THERESE CHARTIER

I was born and raised in Buffalo Narrows. I have lived in Buffalo Narrows most of my life with the exception of a few years when I left to go to high school and to attend a cosmetology program in Moose Jaw. I moved back to Buffalo Narrows in 1988 and have been here ever since. I started working for the municipality in June of 1985 and held a part-time position for a few years and I was then hired on full time. The previous administrator retired in November of 2007 and she encouraged me to apply for her position. I started the LGA program through the U of R in September of 2007 and I will be finished in December of this year. I currently am working under a conditional certificate. I was hired as the Administrator for Buffalo Narrows in October 2007. I am married and have three children, my oldest daughter is a nurse and works in Prince Albert at the Victoria Hospital and my second son is an electrician who works in Alberta and my youngest son is graduating from high school in 2009. I also have two beautiful grandchildren. I am serving my first term on the UMAAS Executive and am representing Division 7.

ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR - CARMEN DODD-VICARY
I was born and raised in Three Hills, AB and after finishing High School, moved to Calgary, AB where I worked for 7 years in customer service. In 2005 I met an amazing man named Justin and after a year of dating I found myself leaving Alberta to move to Estevan, SK. August 2007 we bought a house in Justin's home town, Macoun, SK 19 days before our beautiful son Maximus was born. May 1, 2010 on our 5 year anniversary, Justin and I were married.

May 2008 I took the Assistant Administrator position for the Village of Macoun. I enrolled in the LGA program at the University of Regina in September 2008 and took over as Administrator later that winter. I am currently working with a Conditional Certificate and I am looking ahead to what the future holds as I make a career in Local Government.

I have been an Administrator for a few years now and enjoy the fact that there is always something new to learn. I decided to join the UMAAS Board as an Associate Member while attending the 2010 UMAAS Convention. Meeting so many other kind, helpful Administrators has encouraged me to want to become more involved in both my community and the Province.
